Judge Patricia A. Trebesch - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Patricia A. Trebesch (Ret.) was a judge for the Yavapai County Superior Court in Arizona. Trebesch was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jan Brewer on December 23, 2013, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Kenton Jones to the Arizona Court of Appeals. She retired in 2019.

Prior to her appointment, Trebesch was a judge pro tempore for the Yavapai County Superior Court, a position to which she was selected in 2011. During that time, she presided over civil and domestic relations matters. Before that, she spent two decades as Section Chief Counsel for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, training case managers and supervisors of the Arizona Department of Economic Security and Child Protective Services.

Trebesch earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Arizona in 1983. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in 1986.

After graduating from law school, Trebesch began her legal career as an attorney for the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office. She served in that capacity until 1989, at which time she became a research attorney for the Arizona State Senate Judiciary Committee.

Her memberships have included the Arizona Women Lawyers Association Charitable Foundation and the Northern Arizona Women Lawyers Association. She has also been actively involved with the Yavapai County Community Advisory Board, the Prevent Child Abuse Arizona “Best for Babies” Think Tank, and the Arizona Foster Care Review Board.

She is a recipient of the Advancing Women in the Profession Award from the Arizona Women Lawyers Association (2009), the Appreciation for Service Award from the Arizona Supreme Court (2008), and the Jack Ogg Award for Community Service Award from the Yavapai County Bar Association (2007).
