Judge Owen T. Evans - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Owen T. Evans (Ret.) served as a special judge for the Tulsa County District Court in Oklahoma. Evans was appointed to the bench by the district judges of the Oklahoma Fourteenth Judicial District in 2016. He retired in 2021 and returned to private practice as a family law mediator.

Prior to his appointment, Evans presided over the Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Court, a position to which he was named by former Governor Brad Henry in 2010.

Evans earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1979. He spent the next few years pursuing a career in broadcast journalism before completing a J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law

in 1985. He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma (1985); New York (1995); and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and the Northern District of Oklahoma (1985).

After graduating from law school, Evans entered into private practice, working as an attorney at Atkinson Haskins and the McGivern Law Firm.

His memberships have included the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Evans was raised in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
