Judge Noach Dear - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Noach Dear is a Justice of the Kings County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the Second Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the Supreme Court bench in 2015. Prior to that, Justice Dear served as an Acting Justice in Kings County after his appointment to the position in 2010 by the Hon. Ann Pfau, former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. He was originally elected to the Kings County Civil Court in 2008.

He is a registered Democrat.

Justice Dear received both his B.S. from Brooklyn College and his M.S.W. from the Yu Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in 1975. He went on to earn his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1991.

Outside of the bench, Dear’s career includes serving as the district manager of the Kings County Community Board #12, as a member of the New York City Council, and as commissioner of the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

His memberships have included the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and the Brooklyn Bar Association.
