Biography

Hon. Monica O. Haenselman is a judge for the Boulder County Court in Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in April 2023, filling the vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Kristy Martinez (deceased).

Prior to her appointment, Haenselman presided as a district court magistrate for the 20th Judicial District Court since 2015, where she handled criminal, family, and juvenile matters.

Before joining the bench, she worked as a family court facilitator in the 20th Judicial District (2007 to 2015); an associate at LaBuda & Associates (2005 to 2007); a paraprofessional at Summit Middle School (2004 to 2005); and an associate at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago (1991 to 1993). Her areas of practice included domestic relations, employment law, and general commercial litigation.

Haenselman received a B.A. from the University of Colorado in 1985. She went on to complete a J.D. at Georgetown Law School in 1991.
