Biography

The Hon. Mojgan C. Lancman is an Acting Justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the Eleventh Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to the Supreme Court bench in 2018 by the Hon. Lawrence K. Marks, Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. She has also served as a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in Queens County since being elected to the seat in 2015.

She is a registered Democrat.

Justice Lancman received her B.A. from the City University of New York at Queens College in 1991. She went on to earn a J.D. from New York Law School in 1994.

At the time of her election to the bench, Lancman had briefly served as a court attorney referee for the New York State Unified Court System since 2014. Before that, she worked as a principal law clerk with the Queens County Supreme Court (2005 to 2013) and as a court attorney for the Queens County Civil Court (2003 to 2005).

Prior to joining the Unified Court System, Lancman worked as a court representative for the New York City Comptroller’s Office and also worked as a private practice attorney.

While on the Supreme Court bench, Justice Lancman has presided in the Residential Foreclosure Part and over a Foreclosure Master Status Calendar in Queens County.

Her memberships have included the Queens County Women’s Bar Association and the Queens County Bar Association. She has also been a board member of the Board of Judges of the Civil Court and a past president of the Brandeis Association.

Justice Lancman’s family immigrated to the United States from Iran when she was nine years old. She is married to Rory Lancman, who has served as a District 24 New York City Councilmember.
