Judge Migna Sanchez-Llorens - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Migna Sanchez-Llorens is a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami-Dade County. She was elected to the bench in 2008.

Sanchez-Llorens received a B.A. from Wellesley College and a master's degree in economics from Trinity College. She spent the next five years working as a bank officer before completing a J.D. at New York University School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Sanchez-Llorens worked for fourteen years as an assistant public defender in both the state and federal courts. During her tenure with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office, Sanchez-Llorens was assigned to serve as a training attorney in the Domestic Representation Unit.

She served as a board member of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence Statewide Legal and Policy Council and as an appointed member of the Miami-Dade County Domestic Violence Oversight Board. She has also been an active member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she has served as a mentor, co-president, and a member of its Board of Directors.

Some of her accolades include the Hispanic Trailblazers Award from the Dade County Bar Association in 2018 and the Judicial Leadership Award from the Hispanic National Bar Association in 2015.
