Biography

The Hon. Michelle L. Naberhaus is a judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Naberhaus was initially appointed to the Brevard County Court by former Governor Rick Scott in 2016. Then, in 2020, she was elevated to the 18th Judicial Circuit Court by Governor Ron DeSantis, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James Earp.

The 18th Judicial Circuit includes Brevard and Seminole Counties. Naberhaus has presided in the Civil Division (since 2020) and the Family Division (March 2020 to July 2020). While on the County Court, she served as the administrative judge of the Mental Health Court (2017 to 2018) and an acting circuit judge of the Family Division (January 2019 to March 2020). Naberhaus also presided in the Criminal Division of the County Court (January 2017 to January 2019).

Prior to her appointment, she worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in general civil litigation, insurance defense litigation, trust and estate litigation, and guardianship litigation. Naberhaus started at Conroy, Simberg, Ganon, Krevans & Abel as well as Peterson Bernard. She worked in that capacity until 2009, at which time she relocated to Brevard County. She then became a shareholder of GrayRobinson, P.A. and of counsel with Dean Mead.

Naberhaus earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1997. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 2000.

Her memberships have included the Vassar B. Carlton American Inns of Court, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the Brevard County Bar Association, the Brevard County Association for Women Lawyers, and the Martin County Bar Association.

Naberhaus has served as Vice President of the Board for the Haven for Children, the Director of the King Center for the Performing Arts, the Director of the Brevard Cultural Alliance, the Director of the Women’s Business Center at the Florida Institute of Technology, and the Director of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.

She has taught Business Law as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University.

Naberhaus is registered as a Republican.
