Judge Michael Shklovsky: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Michael Shklovsky has served as a judge pro tem for the Sonoma County Superior Court in California.

He received a B.A. in rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2002. Shklovsky then completed a J.D. at Golden Gate University School of Law in 2007. He was admitted to practice in California (2008).

After graduating from law school, Shklovsky became an associate attorney at Leah D. Harhay & Associates in Lafayette, where he handled international arbitration matters with a focus on Chapter 11 cases under NAFTA. The following year, he was named a partner at the Law Offices of Mattaniah Eytan in Corte Madera, where he spent the next seven years litigating civil disputes, including business, real estate, contract, and tort matters.

Then, in 2016, Shklovsky joined Anderson Zeigler, where, as a managing shareholder, he has focused his practice on representing both plaintiffs and defendants in business, employment, real estate, and intellectual property disputes. During this time, he has supplemented his practice as a pre-trial mediator and a court-appointed discovery facilitator for the Sonoma County Superior Court.

Shklovsky has served as president, chief financial officer, and a founding board member of the California Discovery Law Initiative, and he has co-chaired the Business Litigation Committee of the California Lawyers Association. His other memberships have included the Sonoma County Bar Association and the Alameda County Bar Association.

Shklovsky has also been involved with the Board of Directors of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation and served as a board member of the Holland Heights Mutual Water Company.

A graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa, he is the past editor-in-chief of the Alameda County Bar Association’s Trial Practice Section Newsletter.

In his free time, Shklovsky enjoys backpacking, nature photography, carpentry, kayaking, and gardening.
