Biography

Hon. Michael I. Rothschild is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was elected to the bench in 2012.

Rothschild has held an assignment in the Unified Family Court Division.

He received a B.A. in English from the University of Florida in 1997. Rothschild then completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law, in 2000. As a law student, he clerked at Bogenschutz & Dutko, P.A. (1999 to 2000).

After graduating from law school, Rothschild began his legal career as an assistant public defender with the Office of the Public Defender for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit. Then, in 2006. he joined the Law Office of Larry S. Davis, P.A., where he practiced complex criminal, civil, and administrative matters for three years. Rothschild left the firm in 2009 to join Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate before joining Glantz & Glantz later that same year. While at Glantz & Glantz, Rothschild specialized in commercial litigation and remained with the firm until his election to the bench.

His memberships have included the National Alliance on Mental Health, the Broward County Bar Association, the West Broward Bar Association, the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Association for Justice.

His father, the Hon. Ronald J. Rothschild, was a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court from 1988 until his retirement in 2013.
