Biography

Hon. Michael A. Robinson is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2010, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Ana I. Gardiner.

Prior to his appointment, Robinson was a general magistrate for the 17th Judicial Circuit since 2007. He came to the position after working as an attorney in private practice for twenty-one years. Before entering the private sector, Robinson spent three years as an assistant public defender with the Office of the Public Defender for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit (1983 to 1986).

Robinson received a B.A. from the University of South Florida. He went on to complete a J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law.

His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Florida Justice Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the National Bar Association, and the T.J. Reddick Bar Association.

His wife, the Hon. Mary Rudd-Robinson (Ret.), served as a judge for the Broward County Court for twenty-seven years until her retirement from the bench in 2016.
