Biography

Hon. Michael A. Greenlick is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon in Multnomah County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Kitzhaber in 2013, filling the vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Michael J. McShane to the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Prior to his appointment, Greenlick had operated his own private solo practice since 2008. His practice focused on criminal defense and a federal practice involving complex white collar and environmental criminal defense.

Before opening his firm, he was a partner at Greenlick & Borg (2006 to 2008) and Borg, Strom & Greenlick (1995 to 2006). Greenlick also spent ten years as a public defender with the Metropolitan Public Defender (1985 to 1995).

He received a B.A. in economics from Pomona College in 1981. Greenlick went on to complete a J.D. at Lewis & Clark Law School in 1985.

He was admitted to practice in Oregon (1985), the United States District Court for the District of Oregon (1995), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2012).

His memberships have included the Oregon State Bar, the Multnomah Bar Association, the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (Board of Directors), the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Constitution Society.

Greenlick sat on the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Citizen’s Budget Advisory Committee and the Multnomah County Public Safety Advisory Committee and Community Corrections Advisory Committee.

He has spent time as a coach for the “We the People” Constitution Team at Grant High School and Lincoln High School. Greenlick also taught as an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark Law School.
