Hon. Melina Hernandez is a judge for the Arapahoe County Court in Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in 2021, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Don Toussaint to the District Court.
Prior to her appointment, Hernandez was a part-time magistrate for the Denver Juvenile Court since 2017 and a bilingual family court facilitator in the Denver District Court since 2013.
Before joining the bench, she served as a domestic law clerk to the Hon. William W. Hood with the 2nd Judicial District (2012 to 2013) and was a Domestic Law Research Fellow for the Hon. Christopher C. Cross with the 18th Judicial District (2012) and a Fellow at the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (2012).
She received a B.A. from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2007. Hernandez went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2011.
