Judge Maureen E. Clancy - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Maureen E. Clancy is a judge for the General Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. She was initially elected to the bench on November 2, 2010.

Clancy earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in 1987. She then completed a J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1990.

After graduating from law school, Clancy entered into private practice. She worked in that capacity for four years, eventually leaving to join the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. She started as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Community Based Prosecution Unit and the Major Trial Unit, rising through the ranks to become supervisor for the General Felony Unit in 2008.

Her memberships have included the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

She is a recipient of the Award of Achievement from Glenville Safezone (2004) and the Wind Beneath My Wings Award for Justice from the City of Cleveland (2004).

A resident of Rocky River, Ohio, Clancy attends St. Bernadette Church with her family.
