Biography

The Hon. Mary K. Costello is a judge for the Hudson County Superior Court (Vicinage 6) in New Jersey. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jon Corzine on May 31, 2007.

Over the course of her judicial career, Costello has held assignments in the Civil Division (2007 to 2011, 2012 to 2021), the Criminal Division (2011 to 2012), and the General Equity Division (2021 to present). She sat as the presiding judge for the Civil Division and the General Equity Division in Hudson County.

Costello earned a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1985.

After graduating from law school, Costello entered into private practice. She started as an attorney at Shalojian, Cammarata & O'Connor. Then, in 1993, she joined the William Staehle Law Office (Travelers Inc. Co.), where she worked until her appointment to the bench.
