Biography

Hon. Mary Ellen Brennan is a judge for the Sixth Circuit Court of Michigan in Oakland County. She was elected to the bench on November 4, 2008.

During her judicial tenure, Brennan has served as presiding judge of the Oakland County Family Court Division and the Oakland County Family-Focused Juvenile Drug Court.

Prior to her election, she spent six years as a judicial staff attorney with the Forty-Fourth District Court (2002 to 2008). Before that, Brennan was an assistant city attorney for the City of Royal Oak (1998 to 2002), assistant general counsel for Meadowbrook Insurance Group (1996 to 1998), and an assistant prosecutor with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Oakland County (1990 to 1996).

She received a bachelor’s degree from James Madison College. Brennan went on to complete a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School.

She was admitted to practice in Michigan in 1989.
