Biography

The Hon. Martin Schneier (deceased) was a justice for the Kings County Supreme Court in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. Schneier was elected to the Supreme Court bench on November 2, 1999. He retired in 2011.


The 2nd Judicial District includes Kings County. Schneier held an assignment in the Civil Term.


Prior to his election, he was a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York, a position to which he was elected in 1979.


Schneier received a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College. He then completed a J.D. at Brooklyn Law School.


Prior to joining the bench, he was a partner at Edelstein & Schneier (1967 to 1979) and an assistant district attorney with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office (1966 to 1967).


In 2003, Schneier received a public reprimand from the Commission on Judicial Conduct for the State of New York for alleged misuse of election funds.


He passed away in 2024.
