Biography

The Hon. Marshall Ferguson is a judge for the King County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jay Inslee on July 3, 2018, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Helen Halpert.

Prior to his appointment, Ferguson sat as a judge pro tem for the Edmonds Municipal Court (2017 to 2018) as well as a disciplinary hearing officer for the Washington State Bar Association.

Ferguson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Johns Hopkins University in 1996. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Washington School of Law in 1999. As a law student, Ferguson was a Rule 9 Attorney for the San Juan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

After graduating from law school, Ferguson entered into private practice. He first worked as an associate at Metz & Associates (2000 to 2002) and Floyd & Pflueger (2002 to 2007). Then, in 2007, joined Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, eventually rising through the ranks to become a partner in 2012.

During his tenure with Williams Kastner, Ferguson handled real estate-related civil litigation and aviation-related matters. He also served as the firm’s chief ethics counsel and chair of the Ethics and Loss Prevention Committee.
