Biography

The Hon. Marlene F. Lachman is a judge for the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench in 1995 and subsequently retained in 2005 and 2015.

Lachman earned a B.A. from Temple University in 1968. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in 1970.

After graduating from law school, Lachman entered into private practice. She worked as an associate at Bernstein, Bernstein & Harrison (1970 to 1978) and Mesirov, Gelman, Jaffe, Cramer & Jamieson (1979 to 1981). Then, in 1982, she was selected to serve as a prothonotary for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. She worked in that capacity until 1991, at which time she returned to private practice.

Her memberships have included the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates, the Lawyers Club of Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Court Judges. She has also sat on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Discipline Board Hearing Panel.
