Biography

The Hon. Margaret R. Jones-Johnson is a judge on the Dallas County Probate Court No. 3 in Texas. She was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.

Prior to her election, Jones-Johnson maintained the Law Office of Margaret Jones-Johnson, representing clients in probate, personal injury, cemetery, sports, entertainment, and criminal defense matters. Before that, she spent time as an assistant public defender with the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office as well as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Lamar McCorkel of the 133rd District Court of Texas.

Jones-Johnson earned a B.A. in radio, television, and film from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1985. She then completed a J.D. at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 1996. She was licensed to practice in Texas (1996).

Her memberships have included the Dallas Bar Association, the J.L. Turner Legal Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. She has also been involved with the Texas Center for the Judiciary, the National College of Probate Judges, and the Texas College of Probate Judges.

She is registered as a Democrat.
