The Hon. Mahsaman Hamadani is a judge for the Wake County District Court in the 10th Judicial District of North Carolina. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Roy Cooper on June 5, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Vince Rozier.
Hamadani earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006. She then completed a J.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2011. As a law student, she interned with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office (2009) and the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office (2010).
After graduating from law school, Hamadani began her legal career as an assistant public defender for the Wake County Public Defender’s Office. She served in that capacity until her appointment to the bench.
Her memberships have included the Domestic Violence Action Project.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Hamadani immigrated to the United States with her family as an infant. She was raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she attended Forsyth Country Day School. Hamadani is fluent in both English and Farsi.
She is registered as a Democrat.
