The Hon. Loren E. McMaster (deceased) served as a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. McMaster was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 1999. He retired in 2010.
McMaster earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in 1966. He then completed a J.D. at the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1969.
After graduating from law school, McMaster began his legal career as a deputy attorney general for the California Department of Justice as well as chief counsel of the California State Employees Association. He later opened his own private practice in 1980, where he worked until his appointment to the bench.
His memberships included the Alliance of California Judges (founding director) and the Anthony M. Kennedy American Inn of Court. He was named Judge of the Year by the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association (2005) and the Sacramento County Bar Association (2008).
While born in Glendale, California, McMaster spent most of his childhood in Jackson, California. He passed away on February 11, 2016.
