Biography

The Hon. Lisa M. Adubato is a judge for the Essex County Superior Court (Vicinage 5) in New Jersey. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie on August 13, 2015.

Prior to her appointment, Adubato was counsel to the law firm of Becker Meisel. Over the course of her legal career, she specialized in complex commercial litigation, emphasizing professional liability matters, construction litigation, partnership and shareholder disputes, employment law, real estate disputes, and contractual breaches. She was also a member of the legal team in the landmark Consumer Fraud Act case of Chattin v. Cape May Greene (1991).

Adubato earned a J.D. from Seton Hall Law School in 1987. After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Thomas F. Shebell, Jr. of the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court.

Her memberships have included the Cranford Township Committee, where she has served as Deputy Mayor for the City of Cranford (2014 to 2015) and the Finance Commissioner.

Born and raised in Essex County, Adubato is the daughter of the late Michael F. Adubato, a Democratic Party politician who served nine terms in the New Jersey General Assembly (1974 to 1992). He represented the 28th and 30th Districts, which included Hudson and Essex counties. She is also the niece of Steve Adubato, Sr., the founder of the North Ward Center in Newark.

She is registered as a Republican.
