Judge Linda Marie Bell - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Linda Marie Bell is a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She joined the bench on January 5, 2009.

Over the course of her judicial career, Bell has presided over the Veterans Treatment Court and the OPEN Specialty Court Programs. She also sits as the Chief Judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court.

Bell earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and studio art from the University of Nevada, Reno. She then completed a J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1993. As a law student, Bell was the Articles Editor for the University of San Diego Law Review.

After graduating from law school, Bell began her legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Sally Loehrer of the Eighth Judicial District Court. Following the conclusion of her clerkship, Bell entered into private practice, specializing in medical malpractice and family law.

Then, in 1997, Bell joined the Clark County Office of the Public Defender. She served as a deputy public defender until 2002, at which time she transferred to the Office of the Federal Public Defender. She held this position until her election to the bench.

Her memberships have included the Nevada District Judges Association and the Howard D. McKibben Chapter of the American Inn of Court. She has served on the board of the American Bar Association National Conference of State Trial Judges, Southern Nevada Women Attorneys, Family and Child Treatment, and the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice.

Bell was born and raised in Nevada. She attended Bonanza High School.
