Biography

The Hon. Lewis W. Clapp is a judge on the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor Jerry Brown on May 18, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position.


Clapp earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University. He then received a J.D. from Loyola Law School.


Clapp began his legal career in 1981, where he served as a deputy public defender and an assistant public defender in the Office of the Public Defender of Orange County.


He is a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County.


Clapp, a resident of Anaheim, is registered to vote as a Democrat.
