Biography

The Hon. Lee Kathryn Shuchart is a judge for the 61st District Court of Texas. Shuchart was elected to the bench on November 5, 2024, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Hon. Fredericka Phillips.

The 61st District Court serves Harris County.

Prior to her election, Shuchart was of counsel at Ramey Chandler Quinn, P.C. in Houston, a law practice to which she was named in 2023. Before that, she spent time as a senior trial attorney at the Law Office of Amy L. Mitchell.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. Shuchart then completed a J.D. at South Texas College of Law Houston in 1986. While a law student, she was a member of the National Moot Court Team and sat as an assistant editor of the South Texas Law Review.

She was admitted to practice in Texas (1986).

Shuchart was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and attended Clear Lake High School in Clear Lake, Texas. She is married to fellow attorney Fred Shuchart, and they have raised two children.

She is registered as a Republican.
