Judge LaTosha McGill Clayton: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. LaTosha McGill Clayton is an associate judge for the 505th District Court in Fort Bend County, Texas. She was appointed to the bench in 2021.

Prior to her appointment, Clayton was a legal enforcement attorney in the Harris County Domestic Relations Office, a position to which she was named in 2012.

Clayton earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biological science from Sam Houston State University. She spent the next five years teaching middle school science for the Fort Bend Independent School District before completing a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2004.

After graduating from law school, Clayton entered into private practice, opening the McGill Law Firm. She worked in that capacity for seven years, handling family, criminal, and personal injury matters.

Her memberships have included the Burta Rhoads Raborn American Inn of Court, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Top Ladies of Distinction.
