Biography

The Hon. Kristina A. Escalona is a judge for the 186th District Court in Bexar County, Texas. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.

Escalona earned a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2005. She is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

After graduating from law school, Escalona began her legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. She served in that capacity until 2009, at which time she entered into private practice as a criminal defense attorney. Then, in 2015, she returned to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.

Escalona was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Her family has lived in the area for three generations, working the land that surrounds the city.

She is registered as a Democrat.
