Biography

Hon. Kimberly Cocroft is a judge for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas (General Division) in Ohio. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ted Strickland on February 25, 2009. Cocroft was subsequently elected to the seat in 2010 and re-elected in 2016.

She received a B.A. in psychology (1995) and an M.A. in sports management (1997) from Ohio State University. Cocroft went on to complete a J.D. at Ohio State University, Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2000.

After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Alice Robie Resnick with the Ohio Supreme Court in 2001. Upon completing her clerkship, Cocroft became an associate at the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP in 2003. Then, in 2007, she went to work as deputy chief counsel in civil matters for then-Governor Strickland, a position she held until her appointment to the bench two years later.

Cocroft has sat as a Judicial Advisory Board member of the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility. In addition, she served as a choir and board member of The Harmony Project and as a board member of the Augusta Foundation. She is also a member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church.
