Biography

Hon. Kenneth M. Stoner is a district judge for the Oklahoma County District Court (District 7) in Oklahoma. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mary Fallin in January 2018, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Bryan C. Dixon (Ret.).


During his judicial tenure, Stoner has presided over the Drug Court in Oklahoma County.


Prior to joining the bench, he had managed his own private solo practice, Kenneth M. Stoner, PC, since 2008. Before that, he was an associate at Stephen A. Zrenda, PC (2005 to 2008). During that time, Stoner handled corporate, entertainment, and criminal law matters. His practice also focused on helping clients who suffered from addiction and health issues.


Stoner received a B.S. in business administration from East Central Oklahoma State University in 1992. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2001.


He was admitted to practice in Oklahoma (2001) and the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma (2005).


After graduating from law school, Stoner began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, where he worked until entering into private practice in 2005. While there, he held an assignment on the Domestic Violence Task Force and later served as a general felony prosecutor.


He served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the UPTown 23rd Development District.


Stoner was also involved with the Oklahoma Behavioral Health Association, the Addiction and Mental Professionals of Oklahoma, and the Lawyers Against Domestic Abuse.


Stoner is a member of the Cherokee Nation, tracing his roots back to his great-great-grandfather, Elias McLeod Landrum, who was a leader of the Cherokee Nation and also served in the first Oklahoma Senate. His other great-great-grandfather, Dick T. Morgan, served for five terms as an Oklahoma Congressman (1909 to 1920).


He and his wife, Barbara, have three sons.
