Biography

The Hon. Kelly A. Murphy-Berlingeri is a judge pro tempore and case management attorney for the Ventura County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2022.

Over the course of her judicial career, Murphy-Berlingeri has presided over civil case management conferences and small claims trials.

Prior to her appointment, Murphy-Berlingeri was a probate examiner for the Ventura County Superior Court, a position to which she was named in 2020. In that capacity, she reviewed conservatorships, guardianships and special needs trust accountings.

Murphy-Berlingeri earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995. She then completed a J.D. at California Western School of Law in 2001. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2001.

After graduating from law school, Murphy-Berlingeri began her legal career as an associate at West & Miyamoto, a civil litigation insurance defense firm in Camarillo. She worked in that capacity until 2004, at which time she opened her own private practice as a sole practitioner. Murphy-Berlingeri specialized in fiduciary accounts and petitions, focusing on estate planning, trusts, conservatorships, and estate administrations.
