Biography

The Hon. Kelly A. Gallagher is a judge for the General Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2016.

Gallagher earned a bachelor’s degree from Denison University in 1999. She spent the next several years working as an adult probation officer for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and the Medina County Court of Common Pleas before completing a J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2007. As a law student, she served as an intern for the City of Cleveland Law Department (2005).

After graduating from law school, Gallagher entered into private practice as a sole practitioner. She handled criminal cases, appellate cases, and labor relations matters, representing unions in labor relations issues, including fact-finding, arbitrations, unfair labor practices, grievances, and discharge hearings. During this time, she was also an attorney for the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.

Her memberships have included the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cuyahoga County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, IAFF Local 1145, the Westside Irish American Club, the League of Women Voters, and the Cuyahoga County Democratic Women’s Caucus.

A life-long resident of Cuyahoga County, Gallagher attended Magnificent High School in Rocky River.

She is registered as a Democrat.
