Biography

The Hon. Keith P. Spoto is a judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2008.


The 10th Judicial Circuit encompasses Hardee County, Highlands County, and Polk County. Spoto has held assignments in Polk County, presiding over cases in the Criminal Division and the Family Division.


Prior to his appointment, Spoto was a judge for the Polk County Court, a position to which he was named in 2002.


Spoto earned a B.A. in history from Wake Forest University in 1983. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1986.


After graduating from law school, Spoto entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity for six years, eventually leaving to become an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit.


Born at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Spoto was raised in Lakeland, Florida, where he attended Lakeland High School.
