The Hon. Katharine J. Ellison is a judge for the Larimer County Court in Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis on February 27, 2020, and re-elected in 2022.
Prior to her appointment, Ellison was a civil trial attorney at the VanMeveren Law Group, a law firm she joined in 2018. Before that, she spent time as a deputy district attorney for the 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, specializing in appeals and juvenile law matters (2004 to 2018).
Ellison earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College in 1999. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2004. She was admitted to the State Bar of Colorado in 2004.
