Biography

Hon. Julia Pusateri Lasater is an associate circuit judge for the 21st Judicial Circuit Court (Division 32) of Missouri. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Mike Parson in 2020, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Mary Bruntrager Schroeder (Ret.).

The 21st Judicial Circuit includes St. Louis County.

During her judicial tenure, Lasater has presided over Custody & Divorce in the Family Court.

Prior to her appointment, she was an assistant prosecuting attorney with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, having held the position since 2005. As such, she specialized in child support enforcement and prosecuted criminal non-support cases in Circuit and Associate Circuit Court.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Lasater was in private practice as an associate at Carmody McDonald, P.C. (2001 to 2005); Blumenfeld, Kaplan & Sandweiss, P.C. (1997 to 2001); Landau, Omahana & Kopka, P.C. (1996 to 1997); and Rabbitt, Pitzer & Snodgrass, P.C. (1995 to 1996). Her areas of practice included both civil and family law matters.

She received a B.A. from Maryville University in 1992. Lasater went on to complete a J.D. at Saint Louis University School of Law in 1995. While a law student, she served as a staff member and Lead Notes and Comments Editor of the Saint Louis University Law Journal and was a member of the law school’s National Trial Advocacy Team.

She was admitted to practice in Missouri (1995), Illinois (1996), and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri (1996).

Her memberships have included the St. Louis County Bar Association (past president), the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis, and the Lawyers Association of St. Louis.

Lasater also served as a registered adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

She attended McCluer North High School. Lasater resides in St. Louis County with her husband, the Hon. John R. Lasater, an associate circuit judge of the 21st Judicial Circuit Court, and their two children.
