Judge Joyce A. Draganchuk - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Joyce Draganchuk is a judge for the Thirtieth Circuit Court of Michigan in Ingham County. She was elected to the bench on November 2, 2004.

During her judicial tenure, Draganchuk has served as Chief Judge of the Thirtieth Circuit Court and has presided over the Business Court.

Prior to her election, she was a chief assistant prosecutor with the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office, a position she held since 2001. Draganchuk first joined the office as an assistant prosecutor in 1988. Before that, she was a research attorney (1986 to 1987) and law clerk (1987 to 1988) to the Hon. Robert Danhof with the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Draganchuk received a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1983. She went on to complete a J.D. at Wayne State University Law School in 1986.

After graduating from law school, Draganchuk began her legal career as a legal intern for the Senior Citizens Legal Aid Clinic of Detroit.

Her memberships have included the Ingham County Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the American College of Business Court Judges, the Michigan State Bar Foundation (Fellow), the Ingham County Bar Foundation, and the MSU Inn of Court (past president).

Draganchuk has also sat as a member of the Criminal Jury Instruction Committee (chair) and the Ingham County Bench/Bar Conference Committee.

She is a former board member of WAI-IAM (Rise Lansing).

Draganchuk has been a presenter for the Michigan Judicial Institute, a guest lecturer at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, a speaker and lecturer for the Young Lawyers Section of the Ingham County Bar Association, and a presenter at local high schools and middle schools.

She is a longtime volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels.
