Hon. Joseph Kreamer is a judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Janet Napolitano in 2007, filling the vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. John Gaylord (deceased).
During his judicial tenure, Kreamer has held assignments in the Juvenile, Family, Criminal, and Civil Courts. He has also served as an associate presiding judge of the Criminal Department and an associate presiding judge and presiding judge of the Juvenile Department.
Prior to joining the bench, Kreamer was a partner in the Phoenix law firm of Hopkins & Kreamer, LLP, where he had practiced since 1997. Before that, he was an associate at Snell & Wilmer (1989 to 1997).
Kreamer received a B.A. in political science from the University of Arizona in 1985. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in 1989.
He has held memberships with the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education (past President of the Board of Directors), the Maricopa County Bar Association, the Maricopa County Bar Foundation (Board of Trustees), and Community Legal Services (Board of Directors). Kreamer was also a former chairman of the State Bar of Legal Services Committee.
From a civic standpoint, he was a volunteer attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers Program, was involved with the Homeless Legal Assistance Project through Arizona State University, and served as a Little League baseball coach and a National Youth Sports soccer coach.
Kreamer received the John P. Frank for Justice Award (2002) and was named the Volunteer Attorney of the Year by the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyers Program (1991).
He is the youngest of seven children.
