The Hon. John S. Kastrenakes is a judge for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Palm Beach County, Florida. He was appointed to the Circuit Court by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2009.
Judge Kastrenakes graduated with his B.A. in history from the University of Florida in 1977. He went on to earn a J.D. from the
University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 1980.
Shortly after graduating from law school, Kastrenakes joined the Office of the State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit as an assistant state attorney in 1981. His fourteen-year tenure there was briefly interrupted by a short stint in private practice (1984 to 1985).
Kastrenakes left the Miami-Dade State Attorneys Office in 1995 to join the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Florida, where he served as an assistant U.S. Attorney until his appointment to the Circuit Court in 2009.
While on the Circuit Court, Judge Kastrenakes has held assignments in the Criminal and Civil Divisions.
