Biography

The Hon. John McEntee is a district magistrate for the 10th Judicial District Court of Kansas in Johnson County. He was appointed to the bench by the 10th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission in December 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James Phelan.

Prior to his appointment, McEntee was a senior trial attorney for Nationwide since 2018. Before that, he was a managing attorney for GEICO (2017 to 2018), a trial attorney at American Family Insurance (2015 to 2017), and a private practice attorney (2007 to 2015). McEntee began his legal career as a law clerk for the Jackson County Circuit Court in Missouri in 2005.

He received a B.A. in history from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002. McEntee then completed a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2004.
