Biography

Hon. John A. Nicholas is an associate circuit judge for the 29th Judicial Circuit Court (Divison IV) of Missouri. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.

The 29th Judicial Circuit Court includes Jasper County.

Prior to his election, Nicholas worked in both the private and public sectors. During that time, he practiced at Blanchard, Robertson, Mitchell & Carter, P.C. and was an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Then, in 2007, he partnered with the Hon. Joseph L. Hensley at Hensley & Nicholas, LLC, while continuing to work part-time as an assistant prosecuting attorney. His areas of practice included general civil litigation, corporate law, banking law, estate planning, family law, and landlord-tenant law, as well as a special interest in school law.

He received a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1993. Nicholas went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1996.

He was admitted to practice in Oklahoma (1996), Missouri (1996), the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. Nicholas also argued before the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, and the Supreme Court of Missouri.

He has held a membership with the Jasper County Bar Association.

Nicholas and his wife, Greta, have two sons.
