Judge John A. Ellisor: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. John A. Ellisor (Ret.) was a judge for the 122nd District Court of Texas in Galveston County. He was initially elected to the bench in 2002. He retired in 2021.

Prior to his election, Ellisor worked as an attorney in private practice.

Ellisor earned a B.S. from Southwest Texas State University in 1974. He spent the next several years working as a probation officer as well as a prison guard at the Ramsey Unit of the Texas Department of Corrections. Then, in 1985, he completed a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

When not presiding over the bench, Ellisor enjoys surfing.

He is registered as a Republican.
