Judge Jodi Orlow Mackoff - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jodi Orlow Mackoff is a justice for the Queens County Supreme Court (Civil Term) in the Eleventh Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the bench in 2018.

Orlow Mackoff earned a B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany in 1987. She then completed a J.D. at St. John’s University School of Law in 1990.

After graduating from law school, Orlow Mackoff became an associate at Evans, Orr, Pacelli, Norton & Laffan. She practiced there for three years, eventually leaving to join her father as a personal injury attorney at Orlow & Orlow in 1993.

Orlow Mackoff began her judicial career as a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in Queens County. Four years after her election to the bench in 2010, she was designated to the Queens County Supreme Court by Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence K. Marks. Then, in 2017, she was selected to serve as the supervising judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York in Queens County. She held this position until her election to the Queens County Supreme Court in 2018.

Raised in Rockaway, New York, Orlow Mackoff attended PS 114, IS 180, and Beach Channel High School. She continues to reside in Rockaway, where she has served as counsel to the Yeshiva of Belle Harbor, counsel to Democratic District Leader Lew Simon, and a member of the Board of Directors for Temple Beth-El and the Good Government Regular Democratic Club.
