Biography

Hon. Jessica K. Peterson is a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench in November 2020.

Peterson received a bachelor’s degree from Evergreen State College in 1996. She went on to earn a J.D. from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2000.

She worked as an extern for the Hon. Charles Johnson with the Fifty-Seventh District Court for Emmet County, Michigan.

Later, after relocating to Las Vegas, Peterson served as a junior partner with the Flangas Law Group beginning in 2007. In addition to her private practice, she also served as a court-appointed arbitrator for four years and a truancy diversion judge for three.

Her memberships have included the North Las Vegas Rotary Club (member and past-president) and the Rape Crisis Center (Board of Directors). She has also volunteered her time to the Compassion Initiative and Vegas Masketeers.

Away from the bench, Peterson enjoys painting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
