Judge Jennifer P. Togliatti - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jennifer P. Togliatti (Ret.) was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kenny Guinn in 2002. At the time, she filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Stephen Huffaker (Ret.). Togliatti retired from the bench in 2019. After her retirement, she has presided as a senior judge of the Court.

She received a B.S. in business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1989. She went on to earn a J.D. from California Western School of Law, San Diego in 1993.

After law school, Togliatti served as a law clerk with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in its Appellate Division. Upon completing her clerkship, she joined the District Attorney’s Office full-time as a deputy district attorney in 1994. Togliatti held that position until 1998.

It was at that time, she was elected to serve as a justice of the peace with the Las Vegas Justice Court. During her tenure on the Justice Court, she served as its chief judge in 1999. Togliatti remained on the Justice Court until her appointment to serve as a District Court judge.

While on the District Court bench, she served as the chief judge from 2011 to 2014. She also served as an acting judge of the Drug Court with the Eighth Judicial District Court and was an acting Federal Magistrate for the U.S. District Court.

In 2019, Togliatti received a nomination to serve as a district judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada from former President Donald Trump. Her nomination was returned to the President without confirmation.

After her retirement from the bench, Togliatti served as a neutral with Advanced Resolution Management as well as a private mediator, special master, and arbitrator at her own private practice.

Her memberships have included the Nevada District Judges Association (past-president), the Nevada Limited Jurisdiction Judges Association, the Nevada State Bar (Bar Examiner), and the Mandatory Sentencing Review Commission.

She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut.
