Biography

Hon. Jeffrey R. Levenson is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2005, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Leonard Fleet (Ret.).

Prior to his appointment, Levenson sat as a judge for the Broward County Court, having been named to the seat by Governor Bush in 2003.

He received a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1978. Levenson went on to earn a J.D. at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in 1981.

Early in his legal career, he worked as a trial attorney in the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and as a state prosecutor in Baltimore, Maryland. Then, in 1989, Levenson relocated to Florida, where he joined the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. Levenson served as an assistant United States attorney there until beginning his judicial career in 2003.

He has been involved with the Rotary Club of Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
