Biography

The Hon. James V. Menno (Ret.) was an associate justice of the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court in Massachusetts. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Weld in 1995. Menno retired in 2017.


During his tenure on the bench, Menno also presided on the Probate and Family Court in Plymouth County.


He received a bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 1977. Menno then completed a J.D. at Boston College Law School in 1986.


Prior to joining the bench, he had practiced as a partner at Bryant & Menno since 1992. Before joining the firm, Menno worked as a sole practitioner at his own law firm for several years (1988 to 1992) and was an associate at Esdaile, Barrett & Esdaile before that (1986 to 1988).


He also taught for many years as a lecturer at the Woods College of Advancing Studies and Boston College.


Some of his memberships included the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Boston Bar Association.


Menno was born in Plainfield, New Jersey.
