Judge James B. Munford - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. James B. Munford is a judge for the 322nd (Family) District Court in Tarrant County, Texas. He was elected to the bench in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.

Prior to his election, Munford was an associate judge for the 322nd District Court, a position to which he was named in 2008.

Munford earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1976. Then, in 1980, he completed a J.D. at South Texas College of Law. He is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

His memberships have included the Tarrant County Bar Association, the Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association, and the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association. He has also served on the Tarrant County Juvenile Board, and he has been involved with the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the General Society of Colonial Wars, and the Society of the War of 1812.

Munford and his wife, Terry, have one daughter. When not presiding over the bench, he is actively involved in farming and agriculture. He attends Saint Lukes Episcopal Church, where he has sat on the vestry board as the Junior Warden.

He is registered as a Republican.
