Biography

Hon. J. Keith Collins is a judge for the 20th Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis in May 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Judith LaGuda (Ret.).


The 20th Judicial District includes Boulder County. During his judicial tenure, Collins has presided over a dedicated domestic relations docket.


Prior to his appointment, Collins presided as a district court magistrate for the 20th Judicial District Court since 2019. Before that, he was a part-time magistrate for the City and County of Denver and a judge pro-tem for the City of Westminster. Collins was also the founding partner of Collins, Rafik & Jacobson, LLC in Boulder.


He received a bachelor’s degree from Davenport University. Collins went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.


He interned with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office and began his legal career there as a deputy district attorney after graduating from law school.
