The Hon. Homer David Peeples (Ret.) served as a judge for the 224th (Civil) District Court in Bexar County, Texas. Peeples joined the bench in 1995. He retired in 2004 and continued to serve as the Presiding Judge of the Fourth Administrative Judicial Region.
Peeples began his judicial career as a judge for the 285th District Court in Bexar County, a position to which he was named by former Governor Bill Clements in 1981. He presided in that capacity until 1988, at which time he was elevated to the Texas Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Peeples resigned from the Court of Appeals in 1994 and returned to the Bexar County District Court.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Austin College and a master’s degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1974.
After graduating from law school, Peeples entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until his appointment to the bench.
His memberships have included the San Antonio Bar Association, the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules, and the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas. He has served as chair of the Texas Supreme Court Task Force on Jury Assembly and Administration, and he has also been involved with the Child Advocates San Antonio and Habitat for Humanity.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Peeples graduated from R. L. Paschal High School. He attends the First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio.
He is registered as a Republican.
