Judge Gregory J. Ryan - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Gregory J. Ryan is a special judge for the Oklahoma County District Court (District 7) in Oklahoma. He was appointed to the bench in 2001, filling the vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Donald L. Howard (deceased).

At the time of his appointment, Ryan was a partner in the law firm of DeYong, Ryan & Richards, where he had practiced since 1996. Before that, he was an attorney at Abel, Musser, Sokolosky, Mares, Burch, Kouri & George (1994 to 1996) and Abowitz, Welch & Rhodes (1990 to 1994).

Ryan received a B.A. from Syracuse University in 1979. He went on to complete a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1982.

After graduating from law school, Ryan began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office (1982 to 1990), where he worked until entering private practice in 1990.
