Judge Gina M. Cervantes - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Gina M. Cervantes is a commissioner for the Kern County Superior Court in California.

Cervantes presides over small claims, civil limited, UD, and labor appeals.

Prior to joining the bench, she was a staff attorney for Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance (2015 to 2018). Before that, Cervantes worked as an associate at Thomas Anton & Associates (2011 to 2015) and operated her own private practice, the Law Office of Gina M. Cervantes (2010 to 2011).

She received a B.A. in psychology from California State University, Fresno in 1996. Cervantes then spent four years working as an administrative assistant for San Joaquin Refining Company, Inc. before completing a J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2002.

After graduating from law school, she began her legal career in private practice as an associate at Borton Petrini, LLP (2002 to 2010), where she remained until entering solo practice in 2010.

Cervantes was admitted to practice in California (2004), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California.

She attended Bakersfield High School.
